Europe grand tour c.1830-40 gorgeous gem prints with old hand color

This week we share a short video which shows a beautiful assortment of c.1835-45 European view prints which all display superior early hand color. The artist who colored these long ago was clearly a talented colorist with an eye for nuance and shadow. The gum arabic they carefully applied shortly after coloring was intended to enhance the visual appeal of the image by adding a slight touch of reflective sheen and richness.

They were acquired loosely placed within an album and will be offered individually with each location identified as best as we're able. We welcome your comments or feedback to help pinpoint a specific square or location if we can only get to a general region.

To our eyes these images are superior to many others of this era and are like small visual gems. Each would look great framed, many appear close to being small paintings.
