Nouveau Voyage dans l'Interieur de l'Afrique, fait en 1810, 1811, 1812, 1813 et 1814 ou Relation de Robert Adams, par le Chevalier de Frasans.
1817, Paris, L. G. Michaud, Impreimeur-Libraire. pp. 303.

Period French full tree-calf binding, smooth spine richly gilt divided into compartments with gilt sailing ship devices and tiny star patterns in compartments. Marbled endpapers, large engraved folding map.

Important work of early English African exploration which recounts the first known visit and stay by a European in Timbuktu. Adams was enslaved much of the time in Africa and visited a wide range of locations across the Sahara region.

Spine leather somewhat age dried with chipping at ends, short splitting at joint ends, small loss at top joint of rear cover, leather still supple, covers still firmly attached, binding remains strong, tight and with nice antiquarian visual appeal. Despite the age wear or small flaws, a handsome looking book with unique age patina impossible to recreate today.

Book measures: 8 1/4" H X 5 1/2" W.

Fold out map of Africa:
