Bangor, Maine- Ralph Grindal Scrap Book 1918-1923. [created in his childhood, as a relatively young school-aged boy, prior to Jr. High level].
An early 20th century scrap book made using an old monumental business account ledger. Album contains approx. 70 pages with multiple images affixed, perhaps 350+ in total. Plus numerous loose early scraps he evidently cut out but never got around to affixing.
Unique, one-of-a-kind early 20th century New England scrapbook visual journal.
The scrap book contains numerous contemporary images and scenes pasted into the ledger. Images vary wildly, from pictures of flowers and animals to famous persons on the time. An utterly fascinating assortment of types of printing from a variety of sources such as newspapers, seed catalogues, magazines, trade cards, calendars, etc.
Monumental period 1/2 leather binding, cloth covers long ago labelled by the boy Ralph Grindal. Binding well age worn, but still structurally sound.
Book measures: c. 20 3/4" H X 12 1/8" W.
