The Traveller's Guide Through the Middle and Northern States and the Provinces of Canada, by G. M. Davison. Eighth Edition.
Published 1840, Saratoga Springs by G.M. Davison.
395 pages. Text in English. Large folding engraved b&w map.
Period 1/2 red leather binding, smooth spine, gilt spine bands and lettering, marbled covers. Map remains clean, expertly done old repair on reverse to long(ish) tear which is almost invisible to the eye when viewing the map.
Joints cracked, but binding remains clean, tight, and sound, covers still firmly attached, text block square and mostly clean.
Interior contents display a uniform age patina, with minimal age spotting of foxing. Folding map displays some minor age wear, but still an excellent survival.
Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
Scare imprint year of this well known early 19th century travel guide. An uncommon survival with the large folding map still present.
Book measure: 6" H X 4" W.
