Lucile, by Owen Meredith.
1882, Boston, James R. Osgood and Company. pp. 332.
Wood engravings under the direction of A.V. S. Anthony.
In a wonderful period publishers full grained leather binding. Spine and covers ornately decorated in blind ornamentation, interlaced serpent patterns.
Ornate gilt turn-ins, marbled end papers, all edges gilt. Profusion (dozens) of wood engravings throughout, including twelve full page with their original tissue guards.
Light scuffing along joints and extremities, corner tips ever so slightly crunched, overall a lovely and beautiful antiquarian book. Nicer than typical for the type of binding and era.
Book measures: 9 3/8" H X 7" W.
