Period full mottled tree-calf leather binding ["signed" by Lloyd}, raised bands, title and volume gilt lettered on contrasting red and black bands, compartments beautifully decorated in gilt, covers delicately ruled in gilt. Gorgeous marbled end papers and edges, turn ins gilt.
Leather remains supple and very attractive, lovely age patina. Joints cracking in places but all covers very firmly attached as bound. Removal of paper plates from rear paste-downs, early owners name plate to front paste downs.
Set remains clean, tight, and sound. Interiors clean and free of spotting or foxing.
Beautiful set with rich shelf appearance. Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
