Profusely illustrated with approx. 300 fine steel engraved plates throughout, approx. 50 per volume, all indexed to lists at the rear. Each engraved view accompanied by descriptive text.
Bound in wonderful period grained red morocco, richly guilt ornamented spine compartments, covers ruled in triple gilt rules with intricate lace & floral blind-stamped patterning within, gilt board edges and turn-ins, all edges gilt.
Excellent set with fine age patina. A remarkable achievement of early 19th century engraving and book binding.
