Period full leather binding, raised and gilt bands, compartments richly decorated in gilt, title in gilt on contrasting black leather band, seal of Royal Medical College in gilt on covers. Beautiful marbled end papers. Turn ins gilt. All edges marbled. Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
Hinges cracked but covers still well attached. Small chipping at spine ends, binding remains tight and sound. Interior contents clean and bright, largely free of any spotting or foxing. Portrait plates protected by original tissue guards.
A lovely antiquarian survival which retains a wonderful shelf appearance.
Concise history written by an British officer who served in India during the Mutiny.
