The People's Illustrative and Descriptive Family Atlas of the World.
Published 1895, Chicago by the Werner Company.
534 pages, many dozen color maps & city plans, numerous are double page. Interesting transitional maps of the states.
Period 1/2 leather binding, gilt lettering and decoration on spine and covers, marbled end papers and edges. Binding attractive, contents clean & tight. Some insignificant loss near the blank margin gutter to a section of maps, map of Mass. split in half, couple leaves slightly trimmed, some pages loose as typical, etc. Overall a nice atlas in pleasing condition.
Monumental and scarce late 19th century atlas with encyclopedic entries on the U.S. states, full color maps, and many quaint line transfer images.
Book measures: 14 7/8" H X 12 1/4" W.
