Short video captures condition much better than words. Please watch prior to purchase to ensure a clear understanding of the lot.
All by Samuel Goodrich (Peter Parley), a famous juvenile author of the era.
All with turbaned scholar, erupting volcano and oval portrait man set within acanthus leaves, covers embossed with eagle, wreath and profile busts of George Washington and presumably the author. Most contain wood engraved frontis and half title, couple with small woodcuts throughout.
All show signs of chipping at spine ends, some rubbing to cloth, one binding faded, etc. Overall effect of the set however is most pleasing, time consuming and challenging to assemble a similar lot.
