Pair of mid-18th century full leather European books. Attractive shelf appearance, compartments gilt decorated, one of the books hollowed out and lined with matching old marbled paper long ago to create a secret compartment book box.
Both show signs of time and age, book box has a cracked front joint but cover still firmly attached, corner tips worn, both remain sound, tight and attractive on the shelf.
