Period full grained morocco leather bindings, raised bands, simple gilt lettering to spines, ornate gilt turn-ins, marbled end papers, all edges gilt, engraved half titles and frontises to each volume.
Joints scuffed and slightly flaking, some of the engraved plates well foxed (others clean), contents clean, tight and sound.
Handsome set. Shows the dangers of removing a volume from a set and then not making sure it gets returned. Acquired lacking vol. one of a ten volume set, thus offered essentially as shelf decoration of nine leather bound books.
Price reflects a mere $25/ vol. to start, well below what the set would sell for if complete.
