Old 1/2 leather binding, smooth spine gilt lettered, paper covered boards. Binding remains clean, tight, and sound. Interior contents display a pleasing age patina. Old hand written call numbers at top of front cover, early institutional book plate to pastedown, blind stamped title page.
"This is a standard work of reference, and has always enjoyed great authority. The names of the towns are arranged in alphabetical order, and the circumstances attending the introduction into them of the art of printing, the earliest products of their presses, and biographical references to early printers, are given in a succinct manner.".
Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
