Book is a bound collection of "The Universalist", a weekly religious newspaper published in the mid-19th century.
This collection contains issues from September 3rd, 1842 through December 22nd, 1843. Each issues contains selected sermons, editorials on current events, local news, poetry, a women's section, and assorted articles on a wide range of subjects.

Appears to be the personal copy of one of the three editors whose names appear on the mast head, boldly signed on free endpaper by J. Moore, Hartford, almost certainly the editor who would likely have periodically received bound copies for his library.
Scarce, as are most 1840's American newspapers and periodicals.
Early/ original 1/4 leather binding, marbled paoper covered boards.
Spine leather well age dried and crackled, chipped and stained. Covers remain firmly attached due to strength of binding cords, volume still sound and tight as issued.Typical paper toning, some darkening, see video for clear overview of condition.
