Contains 3 large fold out lithographed color prints (including a large Flags of the World, birds-eye views of Battles of Solferino (Italy) & Sebastopol plus 34 hand colored full page wood engraved plates. All countries and locations are covered.
Splendid, fresh, bright, clean period decorative full leather bindings, spines gilt lettered with pictorial devices, covers elaborately embossed with floral pattern, marbled end papers and edges.
Minor rubbing on edges, light to moderate scattered internal toning and small spotting. Flag plate torn & repaired near inset, all three large folding plates still mostly clean and appealing.
Bindings remain tight and sound, books retain a very handsome shelf appearance.
A stunning set, much nicer than typical for books of this era. Fresh, bright, as close to "new" in appearance as one could reasonably ever hope to find.
Rare condition survival.
