Beautiful period gilt binding, spine and covers ornately decorated with wonderful animal, floral, and allegorical figure gilt designs. Book has been expertly rebacked, with original spine laid down. (Hard to tell at a glance). All edges gilt. hinges cracked but boards firm, tight, binding sound and strong- Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
Binding remains tight and sound. Interior contents show some light spotting or foxing throughout. Color plates protected by original tissue guards. A stunning book, both inside and out.
Wonderful antiquarian survival that maintains a brilliant shelf appearance.
