(Armillary spheres- celestial- astronomy- Africa- Asia- Eastern continent).
Issued 1719, Paris by Chiquet.
Pleasing early 18th century engraved print, with lovely hand color.
Table globe at left sits on a turned wooden base, celestial globe at right showing star constellations, also set on top of a table covered by a cloth. Seven small inset circles contain climate zone diagrams and fill in the spaces around the globes. The Eastern continent map depicts the portion of Australia [New Holland] then known to westerners (pre-visitation by Cook).
Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
