(Australia- Pacific Islands)
Issued c.1855, Edinb. & London by A. Fullarton. Printed by Macpherson.
Fine mid-19th century folio sheet color lithographed map. Of note for the erroneous misconception that Lake Torrens in southern Australia was "hook-shaped". Countless dozens (hundreds?) of tiny islands named across the Pacific, death of Capt. Cook mentioned in Sandwich Islands (Hawaii). Washington & Oregon in Western U.S. labelled as extending across to the Rocky Mountain range.
Paper and image remains clean and well preserved with a fine patina and visual appeal.
Original fold line as issued.
Sheet measures c. 18 5/8"H x 22 7/8"W.
Printed area measures c. 16 1/4"H x 19 5/8"W.
