Monumental and beautifully engraved mid-19th century map with original hand color. A very large, oversized map, which is not to be confused with similar maps of this era which are typically half this size.
Original fold line as issued, printed on thick heavy paper.
The key to colonial Possessions at lower left also has a line showing the Gold regions then recently discovered in Australia , which are highlighted in the inset at bottom left corner. Four other island insets across the bottom, including Tahiti, Marquesas islands. Note the numerous ocean current directions.
A fascinating map with many interesting details.
