Algemeene Kaart van de Ontdekkingen van Kapit. Cook...

(World Map Showing the tracks of Capt. Cook- Discovery & Exploration cartography).

Issued 1801, Leiden, Holland. Engraved by van Baarsel.

Shows van Diemens Land (Tasmania) attached to New Holland (Australia).

Beautiful and very uncommon early 19th century antique engraved folio sheet world exploration map: with fine original hand color.

Shows the tracks of Cook's ships for his three voyages, each with dates, place names, notes re: discovery, etc.* Interior of North America almost entirely blank all the way north through Alaska to an undefined and unknown Arctic coastline.

Light uniform paper age toning, original fold lines, overall remaining clean - a pleasing and well preserved visual example.

Fine and well preserved example, short edge tear at lower left closed on reverse with paper, easy to forgive visually or miss, any age flaws minor and inoffensive visually. Excellent fresh looking example overall with noteworthy early color.

Scarce Dutch issue.

Large sheet measures c. 23" H x 34 5/8" W. (almost 3 feet wide by 2 feet high).

Printed area measures c. 20 7/8" H x 33 3/8".
