Large folding mid-19th century pocket map, lithographed with original hand color.
Very scarce near monumental plan of the city. Original embossed cloth covers, front board gilt lettered. Publishers map price list affixed as front pastedown.
Light uniform paper age toning, thin paper age fragile, some splitting along fold-lines (e.g. where map joins cloth covers), many fold-lines neatly backed with tissue paper to allow map to be be carefully unfolded.
Overall remaining a clean and pleasing example of an inherently immensely fragile oversized city pocket map which was printed on thin paper. Surviving examples can only be few and far between. Rare in any condition.
