In a beautiful and well preserved period full leather binding. Spine compartments nicely gilt decorated, raised bands, contrasting morocco title labels, mottled boards, edges gilt ruled, marbled endpapers. Profusion of 34 engraved plates throughout, including many by famed engraver J.P. Le Bas.
Topics covered in text and corresponding engraved images include numerous types of commercial machines, including presses, geared machines, diamond cutters, coin minting presses, clocks & watches, carpentry diagrams, etc.
A 48 page section at the rear deals with business and commerce, followed by a lengthy political discussion as it relates to the common man.
Sound, clean, tight example, leather remains supple, beautiful age patina to the book. Any flaws are relatively minor and easy to forgive or overlook. Much nicer than typical for books of this era, this book undoubtedly scarce individually. A stray volume from a larger set, yet one of the more desirable and interesting volumes in the set and worthy of acquisition thus.
Short video captures condition much better than words. Please watch prior to purchase to ensure a clear understanding of the book. Nicer than typical for the era and type of binding with so rich an engraved plates content.
Book measures: 6 5/8" H X 4" W.
