Rare and important historical work officially documenting the discovery of the famous ancient Egyptian palace dedicated to the Celestial gods. Within it was found the earliest and literally only known complete rendering of the Night Sky, the constellations and zodiac signs. This famous bas relief ceiling sphere is on display in the Louvre museum, Paris.

Also along the walls were colored relief friezes depicting celestial and zodiac images, found here almost literally for the first time accurately pictorially in large rare lithographed prints with original hand color.

In the original blue plain paper wraps as issued by the binder/ printer. Deckled edges, text block untrimmed, many folding text leaves still joined at top and unopened as issued.

Light minor scattered foxing, rear wrapper with plate cleanly detached, dustiness and light signs of age and handling, surviving nearly as issued. Any age flaws are relatively minor and easy to forgive or overlook.

Short video captures condition much better than words. Please watch prior to purchase to ensure a clear understanding of the item. An inherently fragile binding, rare to encounter still bound in the plain publishers blue paper covers like this.

Book measures: 11" H X 9" W.
