A New and Easy System of Geography and Popular Astronomy, by John O'Neill.
1819, Baltimore, Fielding Lucas Jr. Fifth Edition, revised by James Bain, M.D. pp. 386. Three folding plates (two maps & astronomy diagram).

Gobrecht engraved world map and very possibly (likely?) the interesting early map of United States. Rare edition, much scarcer than earlier editions. With rare publishers advertisement leaf bound in at rear, listing many maps and atlases for sale.

Period publishers full acid etched calf. Smooth spine gilt ruled into compartments, contrasting title label.

Front cover strengthened, rear joint splitting and still held firmly. Contents tight and sound, uniform toning and scattered age spotting. Nice overall age patina despite any flaws.

Fold out maps include:
General Map of the World from the Most Modern Authorities.(world in double hemispheres). left edge worn with short edge tears, overall map complete with no loss.
United States.(displaying a vast Missouri Territory as well as Arkansas Territory, Northwest Territory, Michigan Terr., etc.). short split along one fold line.
The Solar System.(celestial planetary orbit diagrams and relative size).

Book measures: 7 1/4" H X 4 1/2" W.
