Splendid period full grained green morocco leather binding. Artistically gilt decorated and ornamented spine, covers, board edges and dentelles. All edges gilt. With over seventy (70+) superior and expertly engraved and printed vignettes throughout by Turner & Sothard.
Leather remains supple, joints a bit rubbed or scuffed, binding still sound and tight, splendid age patina, a beautiful antiquarian object. Unique thus, a book sound with endless period variations, this binding particularly pleasing.

*Samuel Rogers [1763-1855] was at this date an enormously famous English poet, one of the most celebrated during his lifetime. However, his fame has long since been eclipsed by his Romantic poet colleagues and friends such as Wordsworth, Coleridge and Byron.
