Wonderful oversized early 19th century antique engraved print. Folio sheet, thick heavy paper, wide margins, splendid impression, rich tonality, finely nuanced and masterfully printed. Near monumental format, a splendid image.
Image includes river gods, goddess of the forest, Apollo as a perfect beautiful young nude man, his sister Minerva in her helmet with spear and breast plate ornamentation.
Minor light toning as typical for printed images of this era, perhaps small minor paper flaws, but to our eyes and for most people, an entirely acceptable and very nice looking example. Bottom edge retains original deckle finish as issued.
Sheet measures c. 22 3/8" x 29 3/4".
Printed area measures c. 13 1/2" x 23 1/8".
