Issued London, c. 1779. Anonymous.
Beautiful 18th century engraved print. Depicts allegorical figures in a classical architecture landscape, a cherub holding a fortified military cross section in the foreground.
Lovely depiction of enlightenment thinking with an allegorical goddess, globe, cherub holding a battle fort map, men in dress of the era, classical architecture, the ocean with a sailing ship, etc.
Sheet remains notably well preserved but shows light signs of age. Crease at top left corner, mostly outside engraved area and readily flattened. Only some very minor uniform toning and light soiling or spotting -- all of which is hopefully visible within the zoomable scan.
Sheet measures c. 7 3/4" W x 13" H.
Printed area measures c. 5 3/4" W x 10 1/4" H.
