Peninsular Campaign Virginia James River Richmond 1862 Johnson Civil War mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
Johnson's Map of the Vicinity of Richmond, Peninsular Campaign in Virginia. Showing also the Interesting localities along the James, Chickahominy, and York Rivers, Compiled from the Official Maps of the War Department.
(North America, United States, American Civil War, Peninsular Campaign, Virginia, James River, Richmond, Petersburg).
Issued 1862, New York by A.J. Johnson.
Uncommon mid 19th century engraved map, with original hand color. Issued during the Civil War.
As always, the map has almost no blank margins because the size of the map plate was larger than typical for the atlas and thus filled the entire sheet size.
Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, light soiling and small scattered spotting, some tonging and light browning along the edges, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Sheet Measures c. 18" H x 28" W.
