A splendid set with eye-stopping shelf appearance, found here in a very pleasing if not exceptional state of preservation. Set displays only the most minor faults as listed below and seen within the short video.
Richly decorated gilt stamped full leather, ten different elaborate cover design styles, each found in two examples.
Set displays ornate smooth floral linear Art Nouveau spine decorations, Covers intricately and splendidly gilt decorated with color insets. Marbled end papers, top edges gilt, deckled text block edges, nice paper stock, all volumes illustrated with inserted plates, frontis's often hand-colored.
Bindings all remain clean, tight, and sound with bright clean gilt covers. One book with short break in bottom front joint (shown up close in video, invisible when viewing set on shelf), one internal front hinge cracked, minor small scuff spots, etc.
All age flaws are minor and very easy to overlook or forgive.
Exceptionally beautiful set of 20 very decorative bindings, each a work of art unto itself, eye-catching room decoration.
Books each measure: 9 1/8" H X 6 1/2" W.
Set along the shelf measures: 32" long (approaching 3 feet just spines showing). Shelf space could be much longer (10' plus) if books were displayed with covers facing outward).
