With March 1839 owners inscription of Edmund Cutter of Charleston, Mass, his name also stamped in gilt (shortly after purchase) at spine base.
Gorgeous period publishers full leather gift binding, spine with raised bands, title gilt lettered, compartments gilt decorated, covers decorated in gilt ruled borders with devices, turn ins gilt, all edges gilt.
Interior with moderate foxing, but the binding remains clean, tight and sound. Incredibly handsome book that retains a wonderful shelf appearance. Far nicer condition than typical for books of this type and era.
Book measures: 9 3/4" H X 6 1/2" W.
