The American System of Practical Book-Keeping, Adapted to the Commerce of the United States in its Domestic and Foreign Relations, Comprehending All the Modern Improvements in the Practice of the Art, and Exemplified in One Set of Books Kept by Double Entry, Embracing Five Different Methods of Keeping a Journal,  by James Bennett.
17th Edition published 1836, New York by Collins, Keese & Co.
104 pages.

Large decorative folding copper engraved chart with an E. Pluribus Unum banner American Eagle at top center as frontis facing t.p.

With bold 1839 original owner D. C. Bailey's Amesbury, Mass. inscription to front fly-leaf.

Period 1/4 leather binding, simple gilt lettering & rules on spine, marbled paper covers.

Binding remains tight, clean and sound. Internally sound, clean & tight, light age spotting throughout, never offensive.

Overall, a most pleasing example with fine age patina, much nicer than typical for hand-made leather and paper publisher bindings of this era. Unique and scarce thus. Perfect gift for an accountant or bookkeeper who has everything money can buy, because they won't have this.

Book measures: 9 7/8" H X 6 1/2" W.
