32 pages, each page displays accompanying vignette engraving. An errata insert has been pasted onto the index detailing the artist of each engraving.
Period full polished calf leather binding, raised bands, spine compartments gilt decorated, contrasting red morocco gilt title, covers outline ruled in gilt with simple corner floral stamps, beautiful marbled end papers, turn ins gilt decorated, top edge gilt.
Interior clean and free of spotting.
Binding remains clean, tight and sound, joints well cracked but covers still firmly attached. A handsome volume that retains much of its original dignity and beauty.
Famous 18th century poem by Thomas Gray. First popularized by Horace Walpole, this edition contains 32 fine engravings accompanying each page. Both artist and engraver have been neatly noted in pencil under each engraving.
