(Reptiles- frogs- turtles).

Issued c.1857 for U.S.P.R.R. Exped. & Survey. Art by J.H. Richard. One print signed in plate by R. Metzeroth.

Fine lot of five (5) mid-19th century antique lithographed prints.

Produced by the U.S. government as part of the collection of data and information relating to the location of trans-continental railroad lines across the country. Once upon a time the U.S. government actually supported and engaged in factual scientific inquiry and these early printed images are artifacts of that support.

All are visually attractive, light minor scattered foxing, mostly clean and nice condition, any age flaws or condition issues are very minor and easy to forgive or overlook.

Sheets all measure c.11 1/4" x 8 1/2".

Printed areas measure c. 10" x 7 1/2".
