George Bernard Shaw Political Philosophy Essays 1920's set of 9 leather booksBrian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold Coins
Political Economy- Socialism- Economics- Political writings- Criticism- Essays.
Nine (9) fine early 20th century books by G. Bernard Shaw. All appear to be early printings somewhat near to original publication date (but most seemingly not First editions).
Each book separately issued and then later uniformly bound as seen here.
All in lovely c.100 year old half leather bindings. All signed bindings by Hatchard's of Picadilly, London, likely made mid-1920's-1930's.
Raised bands, spines lettered with compartments gilt ruled in outline, each spine with year of publication gilt stamped at base. Marbled endpapers, top edges gilt.
Fine shelf appearance. Minor light small signs of handling and age, inoffensive scattered small patches of sun fading or slight discoloration to some covers along edges or joints. Spines all uniformly age mellowed to light chocolate brown color typical of dark green leather (notoriously light sensitive over time). At times minor light scattered foxing to paper. Attractive early owner's custom bookplates to pastedowns.
Beautiful age patina individually and as a set, any flaws easy to forgive visually.
