The Leffel Mechanical News: An Illustrated Journal of Manufacturing, Engineering, Milling, and Mining.
Published twice monthly, New York by J. Leffel and Co.
Collection of bi-monthly issues, ranging from March 15th, 1885 to March 1st, 1887. [Vol. XV, No. 1- Vol. XVI, No. 24.]. Total of 48 consecutive issues.

Rare 19th century illustrated periodical, this example custom bound c.1890 for the original owner whose name is stamped in gilt at the base of the spine.

Handsome period 1/2 leather binding, raised bands, gilt lettering with decorative rules, lovely marbled end papers. George Leavitt's name gilt stamped at spine base.

Some rubbing on spine and covers, small old worming loss to cloth surface in spots, never offensive or severe. Binding remains visually pleasing, sound, sturdy, tight, leather supple, handsome antiquarian book.

Illustrated newspaper that contains hundreds, if not thousands, of original wood and line engravings, many detailing diagrams of recent inventions or mechanical marvels of the time. Also contains a profusion of fascinating period advertisements.

A very scarce newspaper format magazine of this era, likely a unique one-of-a-kind survival.

(Priced at $10 per complete issue, many single covers alone undoubtedly worth multiples of this nominal value individually as scarce and appealing historic printed images).

Book measures: 15 1/2" H X 11" W.
