Uncommon 18th century American imprint. An American re-working of the classic Paul & Virginia love story set on Ile-de-France (island of Mauritius) by St. Pierre.
In early, perhaps 18th century 1/4 leather binding. Smooth spine with remnants of morocco title label, marbled paper covered boards.1802 & 1808 owner inscriptions of Nancy Blunt, of Bristol Mass.
Book is worn but still sound as originally bound, spine leather remains supple. Text block well toned and soiled from thumbing, first text leaf missing small portion of lower corner, another leaf with thin loss along page fore edge just touching the lettering. Several leaves with short edge splits, video shows condition very well.
Book measures: 6 3/4" H X 4" W.
