Systeme Solaire Orbites des Planetes d'apres les autorites les plus recents.
La Lune vue a travers le telescope.
(Celestial- Moon- Solar System).
Issued Brussels, c.1850 by Kiessling & Comp.
Two (2) mid-19th century celestial prints.
Both noteworthy for the use of colored tissue paper. Moon surface actually printed on a very thin bond tissue paper and affixed to a cut-out backing which is then also backed with yellow tissue paper (see video). Solar System image lithographed onto card, then exactingly backed on reverse with small pieces of colored tissue paper.
Halley's comet shown within the image of the planetary orbits, both with French language text below.
All are attractive and well-preserved examples. Short video captures condition much better than words. Please watch prior to purchase to ensure a clear understanding of the pair. Nicer lot than typical for the type and era.
Minor light toning and as typical for printed images of this vintage, perhaps small minor paper flaws, but to our eyes and for most people, both entirely acceptable and nice looking examples.
Sheets measure c. 11 1/2" x 9 3/8".
Printed areas measure c. 8 1/8" x 8 1/8".
