Old, likely 19th century 1/2 leather bindings, raised and gilt bands, gilt lettering, beautiful marbled covers and end papers. Nice early custom owners book plates of John W. Griggs.
Front cover of both volumes detached, leather along joints dried, extremities and edges scuffed, but text blocks internally remains clean, tight, and sound. The age flaws are relatively easy to overlook or forgive since the set retains a "once noble" air about it.
Book measures: 7 1/2" H X 4 3/4" W.
