369 pages. Text in English.
Fascinating and amazingly detailed overview of the nation at this time. At the rear is a long Chronicle of Events for the years 1847 & 1848. We note headings that include Texas, Slavery, mexico, and countless others. Apparently an uncommon/ scarce year of issue.
Period 1/2 leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands and title lettering, marbled covers, edges, and end papers. Binding remains clean, tight, and sound. Interior contents display some old dark damp staining to top edge of corners, but otherwise are clean and bright.
Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
