Antwerp Anvers Belgium 1922 pictorial city plan birds-eye mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
Plan Monumental de la ville d' Anvers. Publ. by A. Stappaers, Anvers (Antwerp), c. 1922.
(Antwerp Belgium- city plan- Art Deco).
Pocket map, printed pictorial hard card covers. 40 pp. legend/map key booklet preceding large folding color lithographed map.
Birds-eye view map including many pictorial buildings shown in prospect profile. Nearly cartoon format, undoubtedly scarce promotional Antwerp pocket map from the Art Deco era.
Overall exceptionally clean example. Mostly fresh, sound and tight, some light old damp staining at bottom of front cover, short minor splitting at map intersection fold lines. Map paper now slightly time fragile, but any minor age flaws due entirely to paper age, not mishandling or neglect.
A well preserved and nearly as issued example of what must be a very scarce early 20th century Belgian pocket map.
Excellent early 20th century European city plan, with commercial advertising across the top for local businesses.
Light uniform paper age toning, map paper slightly tender, original fold lines, map and folder remaining clean - a pleasing and well preserved example.
Pocket folder case measures c. 6" H x 4 1/8" W.
Map area measures c. 28 1/4" W x 23" H.
