Lillian Kingsbury as Emilia in "Othello" (with Robert Mantell)
(early 20th Century photographic printed image- Art Nouveau- Jugensdstil)
Issued 1902-10, NY by Burr Mcintosh
Quite uncommon/ scarce vintage print. With a very strong, unmistakable Art Nouveau/ Jugendstil visual aesthetic.
Burr-McIntosh was a pioneer in this visual area. He regularly commissioned photographic art work representing lovely young women in images such as this one- completely Art Nouveau, yet with perhaps the strongest affinity to the German Jugend magazine aesthetic commonly referred to today as Jugendstil. Where Jugend magazine was made up 100% of beautiful colorful graphic design & art created by known artists on paper, this aesthetic is uniquely photographic in nature.
Splendid example of Art Nouveau photography in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century.
In Good+ to near VG [or better] condition: Light signs of age spotting and light surface soiling (mostly in blank margins), overall the image remains clean and very attractive. Any minor age flaws or defects may hopefully be clearly seen in the images.
Please examine the scan closely as it forms the central part of the description. There is a zoom feature so you can see close up. [note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws ].
A very interesting early 20th century Art Nouveau print any collector, dealer, or institution would be happy to possess. Perfect for display or re-sale purposes.
