Assassination of Kouli Khan 1841 charming Miniature engraving printBrian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold Coins
DEATH of KOULI KHAN
( The World in Miniature - old & vintage paper images created so small they call to mind the world of doll house miniatures. Like coins, postage stamps, doll house furnishings, marbles etc, there also exists a little known world of near- miniature engraving, done in a very small, reduced format. This charming and rare little engraved image captures that feeling. )
Issued London: c. 1841.
Delightful and rather scarce small engraved topographical / historical image.
The visual contrasts between dark and light is precisely engraved & expertly printed in a manner which is entirely pleasing to the trained eye. The engraver really knew what he was doing, as did the printer of this print.
In Good+ to near VG [or better] condition: displays normal minor light age toning as one might expect, trivial spotting as visible within scan, overall entirely pleasing to the eye.
A pleasing miniature survival, an engraving most collectors would not own or likely even be aware of.
Please inspect the visual scan closely -- note the zoom feature which allows for close inspection of the item. Please take your time and think before you buy it. We're doing everything we can to show you how it looks in person.
[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws].
Great and rare little image entirely worthy of an album, collection of thematic or topographical old prints, cool random gift giving or framing for display, etc. If you want to own or give an object which is genuinely scarce, visually pleasing, cool and absolutely unique, this little gem fits the bill nicely. You will not be disappointed when you see this in person.
Sheet measures c. 5 1/8" W x 3 7/8" H.
Printed area c. 3 5/8" W x 2 5/8" H.
A fascinating little gem of an antique printed view any collector, dealer or institution would be pleased to own.
