Barnstable Harbor Cape Cod Yarmouth 1862 Nautical Chart US Coast surveyBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
Barnstable Harbor Massachusetts.
(U.S. Coast Survey- nautical chart- Atlantic Ocean- Yarmouth port- Barnstable- Sandy Neck- Cape Cod Bay)
Issued 1861-62, Washington, D.C. by U.S. Coast Survey under A.D. Bache. Mapping by Meakin & Harrison. Lithographed by Knickerbocker, NY.
Fine mid-19th century coast chart issued by the U.S. Government during the Civil War. Scarce due to imprint date, much scarcer than nautical charts issued prior to and after the Civil War.
Remarkable level of interior detail, including hundreds of individual houses, property boundary lines, etc.
Light uniform paper age toning, original fold lines, remaining clean - a pleasing and well preserved example, much nicer than typical for large folding paper charts of this era. Video clearly shows the condition much better than words.
Sheet measures c. 18 7/8" x 24 3/8".
Printed area measures c. 16 1/4" x 22 5/8".
