Benjamin I Waite residence at Sound View scarce 1868 Stamford CT small printBrian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold Coins
RESIDENCE OF BENJAMIN I. WAITE,
SOUND VIEW, STAMFORD
Issued Stamford, Connecticut: 1868.
Scarce old line engraved view of this New England city landmark.
Displays a charming visual appearance unique to this moment in American printing.
A type of 19th century image and printing which is essentially extinct.
Printed on wove paper, as issued, which remains clean & sound. Inconsequential faint text offsetting on reverse of sheet.
In Good+ to near VG [or better] condition: some light offsetting in the background, displays normal minor light age toning as typical, and light small soiling or toning in the blank margins.
Overall the image & sheet remain clean and quaint in appearance -- a visual item clearly produced in the 19th century if one looks at the people and small details depicted.
Please inspect visual scan closely and note the zoom feature which allows for close inspection -- it forms a central part of the item description [note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws].
Great image entirely worthy of an album, gift-giving or hanging for display.
A nice impression of an interesting and quite scarce historic Stamford Connecticut image that any interested collector, dealer or institution would be happy to own.
Sheet measures c. 8 3/8" W x 5" H.
Printed area measures c. 6 3/4" W x 4" H.
We encourage you to print this description to keep with the image.
