Calibogue Sound & Skull Creek South Carolina 1862 U.S.C.S. old nautical chartBrian DiMambro -Historical Investments
Preliminary Chart of Calibogue Sound and Skull Creek
Forming Inside Passage from
Tybee Roads to Port Royal Sound
(North America- United States- Nautical Chart- Pinkney Island- Mackay's Creek- Daufuskie Island- Tides Chart)
This map has split into three separate sections along the fold lines and has significant splitting along the fold lines; it is very fragile and must be handled extremely carefully to prevent further splitting.
Printed 1862, Washington by U. S. Coast Survey
Original mid- 19th Century lithograph map.
Printed on lithographic paper as issued which shows minor light signs of age, is slightly age toned- resulting in a nice patina, must be handled carefully, but remains sound.
A detailed, scarce and interesting early nautical chart which could readily be collected on it's own merits, displayed once mended or given as a present. Probably best considered a working example as opposed to one to be collected for investment purposes.
In Poor antiquarian condition, left panels of map are separated from the rest of the map (but a restorer could readily lay it down onto rice paper and make it look great), mostly clean overall, light minor age dustiness or light surface wear, small scattered spotting or age soiling as seen, original fold-lines as issued, overall the map is still mostly clean--
