California & Nevada Western U.S. 1875 Williams uncommon detailed state mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
Map of California and Nevada.
(North America, United States, California, Nevada, Pelican Bay, San Diego Desert, Humboldt River, Mount Davis, San Francisco Bay).
Issued 1875, NY by J. David Williams.
Interesting and uncommon 19th century map.
Lithographed with attractive original full hand color.
Issued in a scarce and uncommonly large folio sheet atlas which only saw limited distribution, nothing approaching the levels seen by the Coltons, Johnson & Mitchell cartographic firms.
Fascinating interior details, including transitional county configurations within both states, extensive topography depicted through hatchure lines, various annotations about statistics, etc. Earliest routes of travel extensively documented.
Map remains overall clean and well preserved, nice looking example.
Sheet measures c. 19 3/8" H x 13 7/8" W.
Printed area measures c. 17 1/8" H x 12 1/8" W
