Fine and uncommon 19th-century lithographed map. Captures this area of the American West with a level of detail and accuracy previously unseen.
Map remains well preserved. Some light age wear or surface spotting / soiling which is visible within the photograph.
Like all U.S. government maps issued for the explorations surrounding the search for railroad routes across the country, this map was printed on a relatively thin and fragile paper. This paper is now age-toned along the fold lines, and must be handled with care.
Original fold lines as issued; map appears to have rarely been unfolded over the years. There is some short splitting as some foldline interesections.
Sheet measures c. 24 1/2" W x 33 1/2" H.
Printed area measures c. 23" W x 30 3/4" H.
