Lot of ten mid-19th century juvenile books, all in attractive publishers pictorial gilt cloth, embossed covers depicting an eagle atop a wreath with portraits of Washington and an unknown figure (perhaps the author?).
All with chipped spine ends or joints, various signs of age, wear and usage but gilt remains bright, shelf appearance of the lot is wonderful. Excellent age patina. Contents mostly clean & tight, assortment of small wood engravings throughout, often charming and with folk-art appeal.
