Published 1761, London, by Edward Goldney, Jr.
62, 64 pages. Text in English. Illustrated with five engraved portraits.

Very scarce mid-18th century book with five excellent portraits, including three "Death (memento mori)" portraits at the rear which all have skulls and cross bones around them!

Blank endpaper has what remains of an early inscribed dedication signed "from his friend, the author".

Period full leather binding, raised bands.

Binding is in poor physical condition! Front cover detached, leather dried and scuffed, corners rounded, spine perished, text block split down middle, some pages and plates loose- please see photos.

Text block remains overall clean, displays a pleasing age patina.

Price reflects rarity and the portraits, not the condition.

Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives.
