The United States of America according to the Treaty of Peace of 1784.
(North America, United States, Great Lakes).
Issued c.1790-6, London. Engraved by Russell
Interesting late 18th century engraved map, with lovely hand color.
An early reduced size version of the map which shows political divisions and the Twenty Leagues coastal line within the United States based upon the Treaty signed in 1784 which ended the fighting between Great Britain and the American Colonies.
Fifteen early states are keyed to a column at left, not listed are the "Tennassee Government", East and West Florida, the vast northwest territory including a pre-statehood Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. Also clearly shown are various short-lived land grants such as Army Lands, Wabash Company, New Jersey Company, Illiinois Company, Ohio Company and a tiny Indiana region. Georgia still extends across to the Mississippi river, northern Maine is severely truncated
Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Original fold lines as issued.
